·          HOL-SDC-1408 - The Introduction to Virtual SAN 101 lab has been renamed to What’s New with Virtual SAN 6.  This lab is now backed by vSphere 6 and highlights some of the new features in Virtual SAN 6.

·           HOL-SDC-1410 – The previous Introduction to Virtualization 101 has been renamed toWhat’s New with vSphere 6.  This lab is also backed by vSphere 6 and highlights some of the new features.

·         HOL-SDC-1428 – The VMware EVO:RAIL Introduction lab has been rewritten and includes additional content around Auto Discovery, Software Updates and Node Replacement.

·          HOL-MBL-1452 – The Horizon 6 with View – Use Cases lab has been updated to include a guided tour of AppVolumes.

·          HOL-SDC-1420 – VMware Integrated OpenStack and NSX – This lab has been updated with VMware Integrated OpenStack.  In this lab, you will explore managing vSphere and NSX with VIO.

·          HOL-SDC-1427 – VMware Software Defined Storage Solution for the Enterprise updated to include Virtual Volumes provider content.  It’s a great lab to learn about Storage Policy Based Management Virtual SAN and Virtual Volumes.

·           HOL-SDC-1429 – Virtual Volumes – With the announcement of vSphere 6 and Virtual Volumes, this lab has been updated to the latest build of vSphere 6.  It gives you a closer look at Virtual Volumes and provides content to get you more familiar with the concepts and data path workflows.

·           HOL-SDC-1430 – Docker Essentials for the vSphere Admin – This is a new lab first released at Partner Exchange in San Francisco last week.  It is designed to introduce Docker and DevOps in general to the vSphere Administrator.

·         HOL-SDC-1431 – vSphere Optimization Assessment – This is the second new lab being released and shows how vRealize Operations can be used to optimize your vSphere environment.

Free Android app to check configuration maximum of different vSphere versions etc.

vMaxGuide is an Android application (it’s a new free fling application by VMware Labs) which provides the maximum supported configurations of the following vSphere versions:

• vSphere 5.5
• vSphere 5.1
• vSphere 5.1

vSphere 6.0 which doubles many of the numbers, will get added pretty soon I’m sure.

vMaxGuide also provides a comparative view of components across the three versions of vSphere along with the comparison of virtual Hardware versions of Virtual Machines.

Users can swipe between the different platforms displayed and select the component of interest. The app also provides a message to the user on certain components, marked by [*], which requires certain condition to reach the maximum supported configuration.

This app is certainly handy when you need to quickly check which version of vSphere has support for certain amount of RAM, CPUs or Disk size etc..

As you build out your vSphere environment, you might run into the same thing that most of us have… WHAT ARE THE DEFAULT USERNAME AND PASSWORDS FOR EACH PRODUCT … Thought it would be very useful to get a full list together on my own blog. VMware Certification Roadmap for 2015 (VMware vSphere 6.0)

VMware Certification Roadmap for VMware vSphere 6.0 : The VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) is no more there. Now, the two exams – Admin and Design (VCAP-DCV and VCAP-DCD) – are being combined into one certification, the VMware Certified Implementation Expert (VCIX)….....

VCIX certification is comprised of two separate exams- one focused on Administration and one focused on design.

VCIX = VCIX design exam + VCIX Administration exam , Yes ofcourse VCP is a pre-req ;)

How to Fix Windows 7 Temp Profile Issue

If you are facing this problen where every time when you try to login as the domain account, it creates a temp profile. To fix this issue...
First restart your system 2-3 times and if that doesn't fix your problem then try this,

Open Registry editer (by typing run -> regedit) and delete the offending profile registry key from below listed registry location,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\

Here for the victim profile you will see similar keys under profile list, but one with .bak, The key with .bak is for the correct old profile. So, remove the new profile key ( which is not having.bak) and remove .bak from correct profile key.
Now log off and re-login with your user name and password (or restart the system once).

That’s it... :)

Shortcut Keys that works with Remote Desktop

The following is a list of the Remote Desktop Services shortcut keys.
Shortcut key Description.....
ALT+PAGE UP Switches between programs from left to right.
ALT+PAGE DOWN Switches between programs for right to left.
ALT+INSERT Cycles through the programs in the order they were started.
ALT+HOME Displays the Start menu. CTRL+ALT+BREAK Switches the client between full-screen mode and window mode.
CTRL+ALT+END Brings up the Windows Security dialog box.
ALT+DELETE Displays the Windows menu.
CTRL+ALT+MINUS SIGN (-) Places a snapshot of the active window, within the client, on the Remote Desktop Session Host (RD Session Host) server clipboard (provides the same functionality as pressing ALT+PRINT SCREEN on the local computer).
CTRL+ALT+PLUS SIGN (+) Places a snapshot of the entire client windows area on the RD Session Host server clipboard (provides the same functionality as pressing PRINT SCREEN on the local computer).

Change Local or domain user Password from the Command Prompt

One can change Local User / domain user Password from the Command Prompt by using 'net user' command. This is very usefull specially when you work on remote machines and access RDP within RDP(where ALT+CTRL+END doesn't work) and want to change you domain user password. In my case I wanted to change my domain user pwd on a Server 2008 remote machine, where Alt+Ctrl+End or Del is the only way to change your pwd(i couldn't find any other :P ).

To change a user's password at the command prompt, one should have administrator or required rights.

Syntx:- C:\Users\nMohammad>net user nMohammad * /domain

When you are prompted to type a password for the user, type the new password, not the existing password. After you type the new password, the system prompts you to retype the password to confirm. The password is now changed.

Alternatively, you can type the following command:
C:\Users\nMohammad>net user nMohammad asd#123 /domain, where "asd#123" is a new password.
When you do so, the password changes without prompting you again.

To change password of a administrator or local user account do this,

C:\Users\nMohammad>net user nMohammad asd#1234,  where "asd#123" is a new password.

Note:- In case if you don't have sufficient privilage, when attempt to change the password you will get a "Access is denied" error message.
